I lugged the camera on a 4 hour walk up to Powell Hutt, Mt Holdsworth in the Taurarua Ranges at the beginning of this month.
Usually the views are amazing and coast to coast of the lower North Island, but as you can see in the video below, visibility ended up being - well - pretty crap.
It was a great walk anyway and went with my best mate from high school (who was over visiting from Melbourne), met a guy called John who figured because we were wearing what he elegantly coined 'Death Material' (cotton) that we must have been in the army (my cargo pants and tactical boots helped to confuse the situation I guess) otherwise we were mad to be going up in 'dem 'der hills dressed as we were on a day like it was.
He also told us other things, and no doubt his trek of which he was already 14 days in and living off barley or oats or something had him in somewhat of a delirious state. At least he was achieving his purpose - staying off the grid!
Anyway, video below taken from Rocky Lookout, and up at Powel Hut.
